Show freezes on certain slides
Go to My computer Control Panel Display Settings Advanced Performance Move the slider bar down from "full" to "none". You will not even notice the difference, but the computer will notice it, being allowed to refresh at a much lower acceleration rate. It can work wonders. Keith Mason.

Display Freeze

If it really is a display problem, Win98 should boot normally with a generic VGA 16 color display. You should be able to reinstall drivers then. Alternatively, I believe safe mode also allows you to tinker with the display settings. You can change the display type to a Generic VGA setting and reboot.
